I am a consummate actor’s director who also thrives working with a design team to create striking physical productions. My experience as an actor enables me to understand and nurture the actorís process. One cast member described me as “the most collaborative director an actor could wish for.” I am also incredibly thorough in my research and analysis. While helpful in many areas, this trait aids the actor’s process in going beyond obvious choices to create characters of depth and detail.
My design aesthetic leads me away from the strictly realistic as a first impulse. It is more exciting to aim for the evocative, the essence of, rather than the representational. Frequently inspired by visual art, I encourage designers to allow the inspiration to influence their designs in bold and concrete ways.
